ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE

Soho Square is an environmentally responsible project designed to reduce the building’s impact on the environment.

Orientation & Urban Design
The layout of the building, based around the exterior facing courtyards and four landscaped light wells, filters in light to the units and allows the ocean breeze to keep the units cool.

Built as an urban infill project, within an existing vibrant community, it is surrounded by restaurants and stores. This encourages walking and biking instead of driving.

Sidewalk trees provide a natural delineation between the public and private realm while enhancing the pedestrian experience.

Unit Design, Appliances & Surfaces
Living and working out of the Live/Work Lofts reduce car trips lowering carbon emissions that contribute to global warming.

Hardwood floors in the living areas are of a sustainable, carbonized bamboo.

Frigidaire appliance package is Star Rated, energy efficient. Compact refrigerators use less electricity—less carbon emissions, and compact dishwashers use less water. Their 18” width prevents operating the dishwasher half-full.

CaesarStone countertops are made out of natural quartz recycled material and come with a lifetime warranty. They are non-porous preventing growth of surface mold and microbes.

Double glazed Western Windows limit heat loss as well as reduce ambient noise.

High-efficiency central water heaters conserve energy.

Water & Energy Conservation, Landscape & Exterior
Green roof above lobby contributes to the cooling of exterior air temperature with the use of plants.

The lobby is enclosed by an aerofoil louvered sunscreen to keep the lobby at a comfortable temperature.

100% of the rainwater that lands on the building is filtered twice (cleansing process) before it enters the storm drain system, that ultimately ends up in the ocean.

Landscape design consists of drought resistant and native plants that process toxins from the environment.

Landscape sprinkler/drip system minimizes the use of valuable water.

The canopy from the sidewalk trees shade the building naturally cooling the interior reducing electric usage and air-conditioning consumption.

Exterior tiles along walkways are of recycled material from Walker Zanger.
